Patricia Borland Guilford, 77, passed away Sunday, February 17, surrounded by her husband and four children.  Services for Mrs. Guilford will be Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Hartford Baptist Church with the Reverends Bruce Spivey and Les Hughes officiating.  Visitation will be at 12:30 in the sanctuary.  Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. 


Mrs. Guilford, the third child of Annie Laurie Hardwick Borland and Quinn Borland, was born in Hartford, Alabama. She attended Geneva County High School and graduated from Huntingdon College with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Spanish.


Mrs. Guilford married Henry (Buddy) Guilford in 1964 and moved back home to Hartford where they enjoyed 54 years of marriage.  She was an active member of Hartford Baptist Church for 54 years.  She was a member of the Ethel Sunday School Class and was a founding member of the Scattering Seeds Ministry.  She inspired the creation of Eden, Hartford’s Garden of Prayer. Mrs. Guilford was also an active member of the Wiregrass Rose Society and the Lily Garden Club.  She was very passionate in her fundraising efforts for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in support of her granddaughter Eleanor Patricia.  She worked at First National Bank of Hartford, and served as a member of the Board of Directors for many years.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dr. Robert Quinn Borland, her sister-in-law, Frances Newlin Borland, her brother-in- law, Thomas Russell Allison, her sister-in-law, Carolyn Guilford Gill and her brother-in-law, Warren Hadley Gill.


She is survived by her husband, Henry (Buddy) Guilford, three daughters and one son, Debbie Guilford Hamner (Scott) of Hoover, Luanne Guilford Carter (Jay) of Vestavia Hills, Rebecca Guilford Anders (Ron) of Auburn and Robert Eugene Guilford (Coleen) of Hartford; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Hamner Kendall (Will), Cameron Elizabeth Carter, Jessica Hamner Yokley (Kyle), Joshua Davis Anders, Andrew Borland Carter, Jacob Scott Hamner, Patrick Kirkland Anders,  Rebecca Camille Anders, Mary Quinn Carter, Eleanor Patricia Guilford and Thomas Harold Guilford; one sister, Harriet Borland Allison of Montgomery, and many nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  Hartford Baptist Church Prayer Garden or Scattering Seeds at 105 E Burch St, Hartford, AL 36344 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
