Peggy C. Ward of Samson, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 25,2021 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 76.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, August 29,2021 in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama with Minister Harry O Adkison officiating and Warren Holloway Ward directing.  Visitation will be held Sunday beginning at 2:00 pm. and continue until service time.

Peggy was born December 19,1944 to the late Wayne F and Elgene Stone Coleman in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  Peggy grew up in the Mississippi Delta and moved to the Mississippi Coast where she met and married James Ward.  She taught school for 25 years in Long Beach, Mississippi.  She moved to Samson, Alabama in 1994.  She then taught at Wiregrass Christian Academy in Enterprise, Alabama for 23 years.  Teaching children was her passion.  She was a member of the Bay St. Louis Church of Christ and Samson Church of Christ. She loved cats and to sew, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Joe Coleman.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Samson Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James H. Ward of Samson, Alabama; four sons: Bret Ward; Ted Ward (Rhonda), Bart Ward (Jannifer) of Samson, Alabama and Tim Ward (Michelle) of Geneva, Alabama; Nine grandchildren: Emily Ward, Lance Ward, Ashley Wood, Amber Edison, Vella Ann Jenkins, Gene Ward, Meaghan Tyree, Mikaela Ward and Mary Kate Ward; sister: Judy Swider (Walter) of Greenwood, Mississippi and a host of great-grandchildren.
