Philip Lee Bynum, 61, of Dothan passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Wiregrass Nursing Home in Geneva following a short illness. He was born to the late Selmer Rodney Bynum Sr., of Baker Hill, AL. and Lois Blonette Smith of Cottonwood, AL.


Graveside services to be held at 4 PM, Friday, June 4, 2021, at Memory Hill Cemetery with Bishop Larry Brown officiating of the Dothan Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until service time at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.


Philip was born July 16, 1959, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, medical complications at birth caused Philip to suffer lifelong mental and physical disabilities. He attended Vivian B. Adams School in Ozark, AL. for most of his young life.  He was taught to read and write and had a lifetime fascination with solving word puzzles. He also loved to listen to music of all types.


Philip is survived by his sister, Sandra Bynum Childers Hornsby of Dothan, brothers, Selmer Rodney Bynum Jr., of Atlanta, GA., and Frank Douglas Bynum of Dothan, AL. along with numerous nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank the staff of Wiregrass Nursing Home for their loving care of Philip during his final years.
