     Phillip L. Rister, age 73, died Thursday, April 8, 2020, in Durham, North Carolina.

     Due to COVID-19 Virus Pandemic, a family graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 16, 2020 in the Blackwood Cemetery, near Headland, Alabama, with Pastor Phillip Barnes officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

     Mr. Rister was born in Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Philemon Rister and Nettie Gaye Luker Rister. He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps. He formerly lived in Dothan, Atlanta and Texas. Mr. Rister was preceded in death by a daughter, Leilani Brooks, and a sister, Sybil Rister Rich.

     Surviving relatives include two sons, Thomas Rister, Macon, GA and Dennis Rister, Dothan; two sisters, Linda Price, Apopka, FL; and Laura Aplin (Albert), Slocomb; an aunt, Pat Rister and an uncle, Ralph Givens.
