COWARTS. . .Preston Wiley “Butch” Dickerson, a resident of Cowarts, died late Friday morning, February 16, 2024. He was 78.

            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 18, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Ray Cobb officiating and a eulogy to be given by a granddaughter, Kaci Harrell. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Flowers will be accepted and may be sent to Holman-Headland Mortuary.

            Mr. Dickerson was born February 15, 1946 in Bristol, England and was raised in Ashford where he was a graduate of Ashford High School. He lived in Cowarts most of his lifetime. Mr. Dickerson was retired as the owner and operator of Dickerson Paint & Body Shop in Cowarts. He was preceded in death by his father, Preston Elisha Dickerson, his mother, Kathleen Agnes Cleverley Dickerson, a son-in-law, Jeffrey Barnett, and two brothers, Phillip Dickerson and David Dickerson.

            Surviving relatives include the Mother of his children and best friend, Nina Bullock Dickerson, Ashford; daughters, Sheri Crawford (Wallace), Ashford; and Terri Harrison (Kevin), Grangerburg; three brothers, Jimmie Dickerson (Sharon), Newton; Jerry Dickerson (Debbie), Newville; and Ken Simmons (Sally), Bristol, England; a sister in law, Kathy Dickerson; grandchildren, Kaci Harrell (Justin), Ryan Barnett, Cori Givens (Joe), Alex Crawford
(Andrew Benton), Kevin Crawford (Seneidrah), Matt Crawford (Terra), Taylor Bradley (Justin), Miranda Harrison and Mason Harrison; great-grandchildren, Preston Braswell, Jordyn Crawford, Jaxon Braswell, Natalie Givens, Tyler Givens, Kady Harrell, Charlie Beth Harrell, Jaiden Bryant, JessaJo Crawford, Hayden Crawford, Hunter Harrison, Hannah Counts, Shalee Bradley and Justin Bradley; an aunt, Jennifer Hjarne (Dave), numerous nieces and nephews including special cousins, Sally and Irene, both of Bristol, England.
