Mrs. Quilla Mae Brackin Tew, age 100 years, eight months, 12 days, passed over the threshold to Eternal Life on October 20, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by family who loved her. 


Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Beulah Baptist Church, with Reverends  Otis Derrah, Byron Sawyer and Jeff Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing.


Visitation will be on Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 4 until 6 P. M. at the Funeral Home.


 


 Born February 8, 1911 in Webb, Alabama to General Clayton Brackin and Mandy Jane Clark Brackin. A resident of Rehobeth, she had lived in the wiregrass area most of her life; in Pansey, Sigma, Webb and Dothan.


She married at age 26 to her love and support, James Early Tew. They were together for 65 years when Mr. Tew passed on to Eternity in 2003. Two children were produced of the union and she raised two of Mr. Tew’s children from a first marrage after his first wife’s untimely death.


Mrs. Tew will be remembered as a loving sister and second mother to her nine siblings, two of whom survived her; Mrs. Frances Hagler (David) and Mrs. Bobbie Nell Godwin (Thomas).


Mrs. Tew is predeceased by her loving husband, Mr. James Early Tew (2003), a daughter, Mary Eleanor Tew (2007), her parents, Two brothers ( Leon Jefferson and Tump) and five sisters, ( Willie Mae Buckhalt, Bertie Lee Logudice, Annette Love, Mobie Marie Boswell and Rilla Faylean Boswell)


She is survived by her sons; Mr. Billy Jim Tew (Marion) of Maryland, Mr. Clayton Alto Tew (Elma) of Rehobeth, Al and Mr. James Emory Tew (Elaine) of  Spring Hill, Tn.


 


She leaves behind to remember and cherish her memory, 17 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and many Great Great Grandchildren. In addition to the two sisters, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
