Quin Edmonson Flowers, Jr., age 83, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, surrounded by family after a long illness with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the son of Quin Edmonson Flowers and Clara Sanders Flowers. Quin and his family were longtime residents of Dothan. An Eagle Scout and enthusiastic golfer, Quin graduated from Dothan High School and went on to play for the University of Alabama golf team under coach Gene Stallings. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for two years, returning home to Dothan in 1963 to work in his family business as vice president of Couch Construction Company until its sale in 1986. He also developed Grove Park in Dothan, among other projects. He was an active and loyal member of First United Methodist Church in Dothan.

Quin is survived by his sister, Juleann Flowers Torrence, and his three nieces, Julie Torrence Shaw (Steve), Lane Torrence Fleming (Ned), and Lee Torrence Billings (Paul), eight grand nieces and nephews, and 16 great grand nieces and nephews.

Quin was happiest when he was on board the “Never Rest” with his friend and captain, Steve Hoyt, along with Quin Hoyt and Marina Hoyt and many friends and family members. He was a dedicated and loving godfather to Glenn Paul Northcutt. His caregivers, Susie Pew and Patricia Johnson, made it possible for him to live life to the fullest every day. He was also deeply appreciative of his assistant, Carol Watkins. He will be remembered for the joy he found in relationships, his generosity, and his quiet but significant acts of philanthropy.

A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Dothan on July 6 at 11:00 a.m., followed by visitation and lunch for all at the Dothan Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to Respite Care or In Christ’s Name ministries at First United Methodist Church in Dothan.
