Ralph G. Tye, Sr.

Ralph G. Tye, Sr. age 81 of Headland died early Tuesday morning November 20, 2018 at his home.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday November 21, 2018 in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating and Derek L. Wright and Family First Funeral Care directing.

Mr. Tye was born in Abbeville son of the late Jim Cowen Tye and Ruth Cotton Tye.  Ralph had lived in the Screamer and Capps communities of Henry County most of his lifetime prior to moving Headland 15 years ago.  Mr. Tye retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was a Mason, loved to travel the U.S. and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son Ralph G. “Bud” Tye, Jr.

Survivors include his wife Bobbie Doswell Tye of Headland, step-son Nevin Yoder of Alexander City, 2 daughters Deborah Schooley (John) of Pelham, Patricia Ann Tye of Calera, 2 sisters Brenda Tye Weed (Louie) of Abbeville, Margaret Tye Yance (Terry) of Haleburg, 3 grandchildren Elizabeth Patrick (Doug), Rebekah Atchison (Casey), Michael Schooley, 2 great grandchildren and one niece and one nephew.
