COLUMBIA, ALABAMA. . .Rebecca McMahan “Becky” Coffey, a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, formerly of Columbia, died early Friday morning, October 14, 2022, at the home of a grandson in Spanish Fort. She was 97.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 17, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Eddie Colley officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Missionary Baptist Church “Missionary Fund”, c/o Reverend Eddie Colley, 611 Main Street, Headland, AL 36345.

Mrs. Coffey was born and reared in Apache, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Isaac Edgar McMahan and Emily Ann Wilson McMahan. She moved to Hartford in 1954 where she lived thirty years before moving to Henry County, near Columbia. Mrs. Coffey lived in Spanish Fort since 2019. She was a founding member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Dothan and was also a member of the Wiregrass Writer’s Club. Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband, Carthel Reed Coffey, a daughter, Kathy Haller, grandsons, Phillip Coffey and Connell Coffey, sisters, Ruth Hopkins, Faye Holland and Blanche Coffey and brothers, Fred McMahan, Ben McMahan, Warren McMahan, Eddie McMahan and Glenn McMahan.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Clyde Coffey (Heidi), Ft. Pierce, FL; and Doyle Coffey (Bonnie), Oklahoma City, OK; a son-in-law, Steve Haller, Headland; grandchildren, Shawn Baltzell (Mary), Ian Baltzell (Eve), Ben Haller, Ricky Coffey, Glen Coffey (Tiffany), and Amie Coffey; great-grandchildren, Sean Coffey, Seth Coffey, Reed Coffey, Lila Kate Coffey, Sarah Baltzell, Shawn Allen Baltzell, Hannah Baltzell and Aiden Baltzell; several great-great-grandchildren.
