Rev. Bobby Ray Sasser of Samson, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, October 6, 2012.  He was 71.


 


Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Mary Alice Hatcher, Rev. Nicholas Hatcher and Rev. Jim Colley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Traveler Rest Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 9, from 6 until 8 p.m.


 


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ Church, 511 N. King St., Samson, AL 36477.


 


Rev. Sasser was born May 1, 1941, in Glendale, Florida to the late James Caston and Jessie Lee Bell Sasser.  He was the founder and pastor of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ Church in Ocoee, FL and continued to pastor other congregations in several different states.  Despite his failing health, he continued the work of the Lord and his passion for teaching Bible studies from his home.


 


In addition to his parent’s three sisters, Eva Jensen, Mary Jane Smith and Printha Ann Brooks, as well as four brothers, Edgar, Earl, Leland and Bud Sasser all preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include two sons: Nathan Sasser (Lanina) and Johnathan Sasser, all of Samson; three step children: William Dampier, Samson, Stacey and Dana Dampier, both of Clermont, FL; two grandchildren: Dylan Ray Sasser and Sasha Yeomans, both of Samson; two brothers: James A. Sasser (Ruby), Lockhart, FL, Kenneth Sasser (Paula), Enterprise; three sisters: Seretha Johnston and Barbara Holtzclaw (Ray), all of Apopka, FL and Joyce Broadus (Larry) of N.C.; a number of special nieces and nephews that he loved and cared for as if they were his own children; other extended family and friends.
