COLUMBIA. . .Reverend Douglas Lamar “Doug” Golden, a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. He was 74.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, February 2, 2020, in the Camp Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Brewer and Reverend Sam Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.


            Reverend Golden was a native of Luverne, Alabama, son of the late Shermie Campbell Golden and Odessa Richburg Golden. He was a graduate of Luverne High School and Troy University. He furthered his education at Emory University in Atlanta and received his Masters Degree in Theology from Scarritt College for Christian Workers in Nashville. Reverend Golden served the United Methodist Church as a Minister in the Alabama-West Florida Conference for fifty-years. Reverend Golden was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Williams Golden, and a son, Michael Lamar Golden.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Jennifer Golden Brown, Columbia; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown and Adrian Brown; a sister-in-law, Martha Sue Mraz, Burke, VA; a brother-in-law, Danny Williams, Columbia; a niece, Brittany Mraz and a cousin, Susan Barnett (Mike).
