 Obituary: Rev. G. Larry Summers


 


 


Rev. G. Larry Summers of Slocomb went home to be with his Lord Monday, February 10, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 68.


A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, at First Baptist Church of Slocomb. Burial will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends on Wednesday, at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. 


Rev. Summers was born March 8, 1945 in Lancaster County, PA to the late John L. and Velma Graver Summers. A true Christian with a kind and gentle spirit, Rev. Summers faithfully proclaimed the gospel of Christ for over 43 years and pastored churches in New York, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama. He was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather who will be deeply missed. 


In addition to his parents, one sister, Bonnie Metzler preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judy Hayes Summers, Slocomb; one daughter, Toni T. Blankenship (Eddie), Newnan, GA; two sons: Todd L. Summers (Sharon), Slocomb and Toby L. Summers, Falconer, NY; two sisters: BeBe Martin, Ephrata, PA and Becky Peters, Elizabethtown, PA; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
