Rev. Richard Earl Thorn of Samson, AL passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 in a Dothan Hospital. He was 81 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Rev. Thorn was born in Samson, AL on October 2, 1939 to the late Woodrow and Reba Ada Mae Thorn. Bro. Thorn was a minister of the gospel. He was ordained in 1980 and became the pastor of Abundant Life Church in 1981. He, along with his wife Betty, faithfully ministered at Abundant Life for 30 years. During his career as a minister, he peached the gospel in countries such as: Haiti, Russia, Germany, South Africa, and Nigeria.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Ann Thorn; two brothers, L.M. and Lorraine Thorn.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Betty J. Thorn of Samson, AL; one son, Rev. Duane Hicks (Sherry) of Samson, AL; two sisters, Shirley Wagner, Reba Askins; four brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
