Rev. Woody Reynolds, Jr., 81, has departed from his earthly home to his Heavenly home on Friday, March 29, 2019. He is now home with his precious childhood sweetheart and soul mate of 57 years, Barbara Joan (Doll). Dad loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his home church, Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama, and his dear 3 children.


A home going service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood with Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: “To Israel With Love” P.O. Box 7131, Dothan, AL 36302.


Rev. Reynolds was born on August 2, 1937 in Flushing Queens, New York and he graduated from Hempstead High School. He was employed with Sperry prior to Grumman Aerospace where he was a draftsman with the Lunar Excursion Apollo 11. Rev. Reynolds moved to Cottonwood in 1976 where he was employed with AAMCO as a Service Manager. He served as Director to Israel With Love for 42 years. Rev. Reynolds loved nature and feeding animals in the back yard. He also had a love for classic cars, especially his 1966 Mustang. Rev. Reynolds was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood.


Dad cherished his 57 years of marriage to his dear Barbara Joan (Doll), who is waiting to meet him again in sweet Beulah Land.


Survivors include his son, Rev. Fr. Seraphim (David) Reynolds and his wife, Gina; his daughter, his daughter, Cheryl Reynolds; his son, Steven Reynolds; his 2 granddaughters, Alicia (Blake) Crews and Katy (Matt) Linnehan; and his 6 great-grandchildren, Susannah, Marcus, Ambrose, Clementine, David and Priscilla; his sister, Gayle (Don) Lauridia; and his 2 nieces also survive.
