Reverend James Ralph Jones of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Wednesday August 14th, 2013 at the age of 76. He died quickly and peacefully at his home.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverends Jimmy Allen and Larry Cummings officiating.  Burial will follow in Enterprise City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday.


Rev. Jones was born in Jackson, Alabama February 24, 1937. He was called by God to be a pastor in 1963. He preached in Mississippi and Alabama for over 53 years. Fairview Baptist Church in Samson , Alabama is where he was currently serving God.


Rev. Jones attended William Carey College in Hattiesburg , MS and New Orleans Baptist Seminary in New Orleans, LA. He pastored Memorial Baptist Church in New Augusta,  MS, Elam Baptist Church in Thomasville,  AL, Faith Baptist Church in Valley, AL, Park Avenue Baptist Church in Enterprise ,AL, East Highland Baptist Church in Andalusia,  AL before serving in Fairview Baptist Church in Samson, AL.


Rev. Jones leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Katherine, daughter and son- in- law,  Donna and Charlie Stephenson, grandson and granddaughter- in- law,  Davis and Amanda Stephenson, granddaughter, Kaitlyn Stephenson. They have a son and daughter- in- law, Randy and Rhonda Jones, grandsons, Parker and Jake Jones. Rev. Jones has a brother and sister- in- law, Howard and Dot Jones and their family.


Rev. Jones enjoyed time with his family, his garden, his little dog Lovie and camping in the beautiful Smokey Mountains every summer with his family and friends. He was a faithful servant of God! He was always thinking of others and was a kind, sweet soul that gave comfort to so many. He touched more lives than any of us will ever know. His work is done, he will be greatly missed.
