REVEREND  RICHARD A.  NORTHINGTON


 


HEADLAND. . .Reverend Richard Addison Northington, formerly of Headland, died Friday afternoon, January 27, 2012, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. He was 83.



            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 30, 2012, in the Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 146, Headland, AL. 36345.



            Reverend Northington was born and reared in Autauga County, Alabama, son of the late William Addison Northington and Elsie Mildred Taylor Northington. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and served his country during the Korean War. Reverend Northington also served in the Alabama Air National Guard in the Dothan unit for twenty years before retiring.



            Reverend Northington was a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville. He served as pastor of Concord Baptist Church and several other Baptist churches as interim pastor. Reverend Northington was formerly employed by Hayes International as an aircraft mechanic and later retired from Miles Ford Tractor Company in Dothan as tractor mechanic. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Reverend Northington was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Barnett Northington.



            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Sharon Northington, Dothan; Cindi Weed and husband, Roger, Midland City; three sons, Richard Northington, Rogersville, TN; Mark Northington and wife, Charlotte, Headland; Kevin Northington, Dothan; six grandchildren, Melanie Grantham and husband, Jason, Lucas Weed and fiance’, Angela White, Savanah Weed, Paige King and husband, Matt, Joshua Sorrells and wife, Cianna, and Lauren Fisher and husband, James; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
