Rex L. Mayhair of Geneva, AL passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. He was 87 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Brenda Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Geneva, AL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Sacrifice for kids, c/o Emmanuel Assembly of God Church 430 East Skyline Avenue, Geneva, AL 36340.

Mr. Mayhair was born in Geneva County, AL on January 29, 1937, to the late Henry Franklin and Gussie Mae McIntosh Mayhair. He worked and retired from the Cotton Mill in Geneva after 30 years of dedicated service. He was also dedicated member of Emmanuel Assembly of God Church. Rex loved his family dearly, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye.    

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Mayhair; and one brother-in-law, J.L. French.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Carolyn Virginia French Mayhair of Geneva, AL; two daughters, Linda Brown (Jr.) of Geneva, AL, and Sharon Tate (Quen) of Chipley, FL; two grandchildren, Jay Michael Tate (Morgan), and Jessica Lynn Tate Marshall (Trevor); three great grandchildren, Caden Michael Tate, Avannah Rylee Tate, and Zane Isaiah Marshall; brother-in-law, Lonnie French (Jennie); special family friends, Pam Carter (Shawn) and their son, Hunter Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
