Richard Edward Witkos, 76, a resident of Dothan, died at Southeast Health on Sunday, December 13,2020. He was born in New Bedford, MA., on May 28, 1944 to the late Joseph Witkos and Jeannette (Gaucher) Witkos.


Graveside Services will take place on Wednesday, December 16,2020 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. There will be no public visitation.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julia Kaye Witkos, brothers, Bob Witkos, and Bert Witkos.


Richard was a loving and caring husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, were he cruised to the Mediterranean and Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Richard was a Life Member of the Dothan Elks Lodge 1887 and American Legion VFW.


Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 54 years, Barbara (Ellis) Witkos, daughter, Sonja (Jon) Mixson, grandchildren, Wyatt, Clara, and Jake Mixson all of Idalou Texas, and a sister, Patricia Darelius of East Windsor, Connecticut.


No flowers please, memorial donations can be made to Wiregrass Humane Society.
