Robert Harrell (Pop) Thompson, age 83, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating and Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the City of Enterprise: Parks & Recreation.

Harrell was born in Clayhatchee, Alabama, February 8, 1939.  He graduated from Enterprise High School and Troy State University.  He served in the Alabama National Guard. 

As an owner of Easy Pay Tire Store for 45 years, Harrell was more than just a salesman.  He genuinely loved his work because of the people he was able to interact with in the store.  Pop was a natural in helping customers feel comfortable, providing them with a quick “story” or joke.  It seemed to his children and grandchildren that he knew something about everyone.

Harrell was an avid supporter of Enterprise High School sports.  He was a member of the EHS Quarterback Club and the EHS Tipoff Club.  He enjoyed watching his sons, grandsons, and their friends play sports. He also enjoyed watching his daughter and granddaughters participate in their Friday night activities.

He also supported his daughter and granddaughters, attending dance recitals for 54 years.

Harrell was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn Dyar Thompson; parents, Sid and Amanda Speigner Thompson.

Survivors include his four children: Robert Harrell Thompson, Jr., Panama City Beach, FL; Terri Averett (Bruce) Enterprise; Jim Thompson (Bev) Enterprise; Greg Thompson (Jodee) Enterprise; grandchildren: Hadley Thompson McAlister (Brandon); John Robert Thompson (Nicole); Ashley Averett Casagrande (Michael); Eric Averett, Sid Thompson, Ele Thompson, Stacy Lin Thompson, Dyar Thompson; great-grandchildren: Finley Kate McAlister, Eason McAlister, Cole Thompson; Brother, Bill Thompson, Dothan.

Honorary Pallbearers: John Robert Thompson, Eric Averett, Sid Thompson, Dyar Thompson, Warren Thompson, Will Searcy.
