ABBEVILLE. . .Robert Jerry Mims, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday afternoon, September 19, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. He was 77.

       There are no funeral or memorial services planned at this time. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

       Jerry Mims was born and reared in the Wills Crossroads Community of Henry County, son of the late James Orlando Mims and Elma Smith Mims. He was a member of the Browns Crossroads Masonic Lodge No. 529 and was an avid Alabama football and NASCAR fan.  Jerry was retired from Army Fleet Support at Ft. Rucker as a Technical Inspector in helicopter maintenance and repair. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Lisenby, a sister, Judy Hendley and two brothers, Ronnie Mims and Eddie Mims.

       Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy Ethridge Mims; a son, Kirt Mims; two step-sons, Robby Blalock (Jeanette), Ohio; and Danny Blalock (Estelle), Abbeville; a brother-in-law, Don Hendley, Abbeville; two grandchildren, Allison and Dillon; three step-grandchildren, Trey, Daniel and David; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, many extended family members and friends.
