Robert L. Herring, age 69 of Fadette died late Saturday evening, December 8, 2018 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 2PM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at New Teamon Baptist Church with Rev. Lee  Chorn, Firefighter Kyle Hovey and ABC Investigator David Hall officiating. All members of Volunteer Fire Departments are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1PM until service time at the church.

Robert was born December 4, 1949 to the late Robert and Grace Marler Herring. He lived in New Brockton and Dothan the early part of his life until he married and moved to Fadette in 1969. Robert worked as an electrician for Pemco for over 35 years and served as Chief of the Fadette Volunteer Fire Department from 1981 until 2004, when his health would no longer allow him to fight fires.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his step-father, Billy Joe Livingston. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Collins Herring of Fadette; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Breanna Herring of Fadette; a daughter, Melissa Herring of Fadette; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Karen Herring of Headland; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Mike Helms of Dothan; a half-brother, Larry Livingston of Grimes. Two grandchildren, Nicole Herring and Landon Herring also survive.

Care for the Herring family is being given by Jason Shepard, Randy Crenshaw, Vince Arnold and Staff at Family First Funeral & Cremation Care.
