Robert Leslie Carroll of Dothan passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. He was 90.

 

Born January 29, 1924, in Antoine, Arkansas to the late Ernest and Daisy Carroll. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by Colleen Jones Carroll, one brother, one sister, and three brother-in-laws.

 

Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife of  33 years, Juanita of Dothan, his daughters, Leslie Herring (Howard) of Pensacola, FL., and Robbie Lee Pettit (Chip) of Houston, TX; his sons, Robert Carroll (Sharron) of Dothan, and Christopher Carroll (Beatrice) of Dothan; his sister, Ernestine Clark of Arkadelphia, AR; step-children, Kay Hand (Danny) of Headland, Kim Dykes of Dothan, Karla Dykes of Midland City, and Kathy Taylor of Fort Walton, Fl.; and his 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

Mr. Carroll loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church for over 40 years. Three of his great interests included golfing, gardening, and fishing. He was an avid Auburn fan. He served his country in WWII and the Korean War as a pilot, he retired from the Air Force in 1967, and he then went on to be an instructor pilot on the T-42 for 17 years at Fort Rucker.

 

Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Thursday, February 27, 2014 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Chaplain Charles Goldsmith officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 PM until 3 PM Thursday, February 27, 2014.

 

The family will be accepting flowers.
