Rodney Howell Walden, 72, a life-long resident of Dothan passed away, Monday, April 8, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Elizabeth Hinton and Reverend Richard Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., at Piney Grove United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 21 Piney Grove Road, Rehobeth, AL 36301, or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.

Rodney was born January 6, 1952, in Dothan to the late James & Ouida (Croom) Walden. He attended Rehobeth High School, and following graduation continued his education at Chipola College (Graceville Campus). Rodney was a working man with many talents, whether it was construction, truck driving, or working around his farm. He was known for his green thumb when it came to his passion for growing fruits & vegetables, and also enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, and watching NFL Football. Rodney was a proud member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, a place he often said he loved and felt the most at home.

He is preceded in death by wife, Jackie Rudine Walden, and his parents.

He is survived by his two sons, Bruce Edward Walden, and Eric Walden, Sr. (Beth); a special grandson, Eric “D.J.” Walden, Jr. (Elizabeth); a special granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Kemp Smith; four grandsons, Colin James Cureton, Isaac Kade Walden, Dallas Walden, and Kody Walden; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah James Walden, and John Brooks Walden.
