Roger Lamar Trant of Dothan, Alabama passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020. He was 72. Mr. Trant was born June 21, 1947 in Coffee County, Alabama to William J. Trant and Olliev (Thompson) Trant of Geneva, Alabama.


Mr. Trant graduated from Geneva County High School in 1965. He was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Metal. After the Vietnam War, he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves and received an honorable discharge in 1973 as a Sergeant. He received an A.S. degree from Enterprise State and worked for the State of Alabama Employment Service in Dothan, Alabama until retirement.


He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Trant.  He is survived by his loving and devoted mother Olliev (Thompson) Trant of Geneva, Alabama; one daughter Kristi Trant Weatherford and two granddaughters (Laura and Emma) of Bay Minette, Alabama; two sisters Linda Trant Watson (Jim) of Titus, Alabama, Joyce Sue Bargeron of Dothan, Alabama; one brother Sid J. Trant (Angel) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family.


A private family graveside service was held on May 30, 2020. Warren Holloway Ward directed the funeral.
