Roger R. Overton, a resident of Dothan, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 69.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the First Christian Church with Bro. Bill Smith and longtime friend Harrison Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will  receive at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2012, and at the church on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 10 to 11 A.M., one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be gathered at 803 Girard Ave, Dothan, AL. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 1401 N. Cherokee Ave, Dothan, AL 36301.

 

Roger was a 1961 graduate of Dothan High School, a retired Alfa Insurance Agent, an avid golfer, and a dedicated friend. He loved his family, his church, and Alabama Football, “Roll Tide.”

 

Mr. Overton was preceded in death by his father, Hugh S. Overton and mother, Ethel Borland Overton, two sisters, Lillian Taylor and Sylvia Peters.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mickey R. Overton, children, Charles Kevin (Jannell), Kellie O. Lane (Jeff) , all of Dothan; four grandchildren, Logan Lane, Brandon Huff, Jamie Lane, and Josh Lane, one great-grandchild, Kryslin Lane, one brother, Hugh B. Overton (Linda) of Dothan, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
