Rowena Iva Lewitt of Cottonwood, AL passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 71.

Rowena was born to parents Robert Mersereau and Elizabeth (Edwards) Mersereau on October 22, 1949, in North Carolina.  Rowena enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, and shopping on Amazon.  Most importantly, Rowena was loved and loved her growing family.  She will be remembered as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.

She is preceded in death by her father and special friend, Fran.

Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth (Kitty); daughters, Stacy (Ralph) Beck and Cheryl Ireland; son, Michael (Amanda) Brasseal; sisters, Kathy Dunn and Bobbie (Rob) Murphy; grandchildren, Kayla (Cody) Mehr, Jade (Dylan) Chavis, Kyle (April) Ireland, Breanna (Austin) Creel, Ayden Brasseal, Kyndal Brasseal, and Gage Brasseal; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kenlynn, Wyatt, Wayde, Raelynn, AnnaBeth Iveigh, Baby Ireland, Dara, and Nevaeh; nieces, Nicole (Michael) Deacon, Jennifer (Robert) Czaplicki, and Bridget Hofacker; nephews, Corey (Alicia) Dunn and Jimmy (Jennifer) Murphy; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A rush of wings they flutter high
to touch the sun and kiss the sky
A butterfly is with us now
No more a caterpillar upon a leaf
Rowena with angel wings
A soaring butterfly with us they sing.
