Roy Allen Messer of Geneva, Alabama passed away on Sunday February 5, 2023. at his home.  He celebrated his 90^th birthday on January 13th, 2023. 

 Graveside Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, Tuesday February 7, 2023 at Friendship Community Cemetery in Geneva, Alabama with full military honors and Rev. Steve Skidmore officiating.   

 Roy was born in Samson, AL on January 13, 1933 to the late Otis and Sarah Elizabeth Deshazo Messer.   

 He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  After retiring from the US Air Force in 1974, he worked and retired from Fleming Foods in Geneva, Alabama.  

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Don and Buddy Messer and his sister, JoAnn Smith. 

 Roy is survived by his wife Mary Catherine Messer of Geneva, son Jim Messer (Cherie) Messer of Hudson, NC, daughter Susan Lisenby (Jay) Scottsdale, AZ and grandchildren, Sarah Ley (Sean), Callie Istre (Mark), Jimmy Messer, and Sarah Messer.  Great-Grandchildren Addison Ley, Landon Ley, Hayes Istre, and Kennedy Mae Messer.  Brother Bobby Messer (Marie) Messer of Abbeville, Al and a number of nieces and nephews. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or the charity of your choice.
