MIDLAND CITY. . .Roy Alton Gulledge, Jr., a resident of Midland City, passed away on Monday morning, December 21, 2020, at the age of 70. After several months of declining health, Roy died peacefully with his high school sweetheart and wife, Linda of 48 years, and their son & daughter by his side in a Dothan hospital.           


   Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 26, 2020, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Brannon Stand, with Pastor Paul Edenfield and Reverend Mark Brackin officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, 1700 4th Avenue S., Birmingham, AL 35233.


   Roy Gulledge was born in Dothan and was reared in Napier Field, son of the late Roy Alton Gulledge, Sr. and Pearlie Mae Windham Gulledge. He was a 1968 graduate of the Dale County High School and received a certificate in electronics from Wallace Community College. Roy was a member of the Napier United Methodist Church and attended the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He retired, after 40 years, from Pemco Aeroplex as an Avionics Manager/Aircraft Electrician and in earlier years was employed by Hayes Aircraft. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and served on the Grievance and Negotiating Committees for a number of years. Roy was also retired from the Air National Guard in the Dothan unit with rank of Technical Sergeant. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and Paw Paw. He was also an avid Alabama football fan and always enjoyed cheering “Roll Tide”.


   Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Ward Gulledge; a daughter, Keshea Gulledge Harman (Greg), Merritt Island, FL; a son, Chad Gulledge (Amy), Midland City; two sisters, Dale Allen (Gaylon), Midland City; and Connie Brackin (Mark), Grimes, AL; five grandchildren, Anna-Katherine Harman, Tripp Harman, Hunter Gulledge, Dylan Gulledge and Abigail Gulledge; his mother-in-law, Ruth Ward, sisters-in-law, Pam Parker (Phillip) and Patsy Blocker (Earl), several nieces and nephews.
