ROY W. GRIMES, SR.

ENTERPRISE, AL… Roy W. Grimes, Sr., a resident of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 3, 2023, at the home of his daughter. He was 75.

          A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. The family request that everyone come in casual attire, because Mr. Grimes would want everyone comfortable. At other times, the family will be at 114 Arrowhead Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36301. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

          The family is accepting flowers or they ask that Roy’s wishes, was for you to plant a fruit tree in your own yard or on his farm in Enterprise.

          Mr. Grimes was born in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Rufus Grimes and Annie Bell Kirkland Grimes. He had previously lived in Abbeville, Alabama and Enterprise, Alabama before moving to Dothan, Alabama a few weeks ago. He served his country, in the Vietnam War, while serving in the U.S. Navy. He was master mechanic of all things, but specialized in automobiles. He was acting president of the Walk and Stalk Hunting Club in Coffee County, Alabama. Roy had a love for the outdoors but especially hunting and fishing with family and friends.  He loved his family, but his grandchildren were his prized possessions.

          Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Jerkins Grimes; his son, Roy W. Grimes, Jr.; his daughter, Rachel Ann Grimes; his brother, Wayne Grimes; and his sisters, Sister “Eileen” Creel and Bonnie Merritt.

          Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Cathy Barnett Grimes; his daughter, Lara Grimes McCall (Jackie); his brothers, Carrol (Sara) Grimes, Rayford Grimes, and Hayward Grimes; his grandchildren, Paul Grimes (Caitie), Jessica Grimes, and Jaymie Grimes; and his great-grandchildren, Preslee Grimes, Willow Grimes, River Grimes, and Asher Grimes.

          The family wishes to express a sincere thank you, for your loving care and compassion during this time, to Dr. Zaarour and his nurse Catie at Southeast Health Oncology; Southeast Home Health, in Enterprise, Alabama, especially Dan, Candice, Tina and Kiera; and Dr. Doty at Pulmonary Assoc.
