Date of Service: A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Flay Allen and Pastor Dennis Flower officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 am and other times the family will be at her home in Webb.

Ruth Johnson Buie, a resident of Webb, Alabama, passed away peacefully at a local hospital on Saturday, March 26, 2022. She was 88 years old. Church.


A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Flay Allen and Pastor Dennis Flower officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 am and other times the family will be at her home in Webb. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Christian Missions, Inc.


Born on October 16, 1933 in Houston County to Gordon and Theda Brown Johnson, Mrs. Buie has lived in this area all of her life. Throughout her working career, Mrs. Buie was employed with the U. S. Postal Service as Post Master at the Webb Post Office serving for 17 years and retired in 1983. Traveling with her husband, Frank, was one of her favorite things to do, but more than anything else, she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends she loved. She taught her children to cook and among their favorite dishes was her corn bread. Mrs. Buie was a fierce competitor and really enjoyed playing cards, games, and working puzzles. She loved working in her yard and growing azaleas. Mrs. Buie was a board member of Faith Christian Missions, where she worked on many missionary projects throughout the world. She was a founding member of Grace Bible Church of Dothan, and later attended Central Baptist


Mrs. Buie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Frank Giles Buie, Jr.; and her great granddaughter, Sophie Zimmerman.


Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Frank G. Buie; her three daughters, Tonja Summerlin, Sonja (Grevlyn) Sanders, and Nila (Danny) Johnson; her six grandchildren, Chad (Brandi) Green, Nick (Amy) Green, Tiffany (Jason) Button, Bethany (Darrell) Wood, Marcey (Shawn) Zimmerman, and Hunter (Karie) Johnson; her 17 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; her sister, Jane (Jack) Fowler; and her three nephews.
