KINSEY. . .Sam Moore, a resident of Kinsey, a man of love and passion, was received by the Lord into His Kingdom on Wednesday afternoon, July 25, 2018. He was 74.


  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church Headland with Reverend Tim Gay and Reverend Mike Wehner officiating and a eulogy to be given by Donnie Smith. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:30 P.M. Friday in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church Headland.


  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Headland, 301 E. Church St., Headland, AL 36345, Dayspring Hospice, 3160 W. Main St., Suite 1, Dothan, AL 36305, or the ALS Association, 300 Cahaba Park Circle, Suite 209, Birmingham, AL 35245.


  Sam Moore was born in Dale County, son of the late Joel Joshua Moore and Nervie Carpenter Moore. He was reared in Headland and was a 1961 graduate of Headland High School. Sam lived in Kinsey for the past forty years. He owned and operated Discount Dry Cleaners in Dothan for a number of years and also operated Coin Operated Laundromats in Headland and Dothan. After his retirement, he was engaged in farming and appliance repair. Sam was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and the Jack Bridges Sunday School Class. Because the Lord blessed him with good health, he had perfect attendance in Sunday School for 52 years. He dearly loved his church and church family. When you met Sam, he became your friend. He loved his family well and was there for them whatever the need. His grandchildren were his heartbeat. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Roxie Moore Ellenburg; and sister, Christine Boone.


  Surviving relatives include his wife, Nell Hagler Moore; a son, Todd Moore (Wanda), Headland; a daughter, Shanda McKissack (Eric); Dothan; a son-in-law, Scott Ellenburg, Webb; three grandchildren, Lillyen McKissack, Hunter McKissack and Kaydence McKissack; two brothers-in-law, Virgle Hagler, Dothan, and Charles Hall, Kinsey; and several nieces and nephews.


  Serving as active pallbearers will be Daniel Rich, Charles Owens, Mike Jones, Donnie Smith, Don McClendon, Jerod Anderson, Roger Medley and Johnny Lee. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men’s Sunday School Class and the Jack Bridges Sunday School Class.
