A celebration of life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Sunset Chapel with Rev. Keith Evans officiating. In lieu of the flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society or to Evergreen Presbyterian Church in honor of Sam.

Sam Stafford Prillaman Jr., known affectionately as Sam to his many loving friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 84. Born on November 26, 1939, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Sam Stafford Sr. and Goldie Brown Prillaman. Sam's life was marked by his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.

Sam's journey began in Virginia, where he met his beloved wife, Elizabeth Pasley Prillaman, fondly known as Betty. The couple shared a beautiful life together for 58 years, filled with laughter and love. Their bond was a testament to enduring companionship, and together they built a cherished and memorable life. It was always known you would never see one without the other.

Sam's career at Colonial Bakery spanned 25 years, during which time he not only dedicated himself to his work but also to the people around him. Sam's passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. He was known for his love of dogs and unwavering support of the Wiregrass Humane Society, reflecting his deep love for animals and his commitment to their welfare. His generosity was boundless, often extending a helping hand to friends in need, embodying the very essence of community spirit.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Sam will recall his infectious humor. He never met a stranger, and his ability to make others laugh was one of his most endearing qualities. Sam's love for the outdoors was evident to all who accompanied him on his many adventures beneath the open sky.

Above all, Sam was loving. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to his family, friends, and even to those who had just met him. His funny anecdotes and generous acts will be cherished memories that continue to bring smiles to the faces of those he touched.
