Sandra Lee Cureton, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at a local hospital. She was 78.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Hankins officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am.


Mrs. Cureton was born on April 13, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia and lived the early years of her life there. She was a 1958 graduate of Murphy High School. Mrs. Cureton moved to Dothan in the middle 1960’s. She moved to Albany, GA where she was employed with Combined Insurance. In 1988, she would begin working with Wal-Mart and moved to Panama City, Florida where she resided until her retirement in 2015 after 27 years. Mrs. Cureton enjoyed reading, especially murder mystery books. She was a member of Emmaus United Methodist Church in Panama City, FL.


Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Earl Cureton; her daughter, Christa (Rick) Kelly; her grandchildren, John Kelly and Victoria (Zach) Baker; her great-grandchild, Robert Adair; her brother, Richard (Nancy) Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.
