Sara Davis, age 77, a resident of Yazoo City, Mississippi (formerly of Newton), passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Manhattan Nursing & Rehabilitation in Jackson, Mississippi, following a brief illness.


Funeral services for Mrs. Sara will be held at 2pm Tuesday, October 6, 2020, in the chapel of Family First Funeral Care with Bimbo Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Newton City Cemetery. Social distancing protocols will be observed and face masks are required per orders of the governor.


Mrs. Sara was born August 3, 1943 in Dale County, AL to the late H.B. and Myrtle Parrish Burdick. For many years she was the office manager for Bud Coley Welding. She also attended the Assembly of God church.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sara was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Johnson; three brothers-in-law, Bill Johnson, Johnny Turner and Bobby Vinson; a brother, Glen Burdick. Survivors include four sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg & Gwen Hawthorne of Yazoo City, MS, Bruce Hawthorne, Newton, Wayne Hawthorne, Bay County, FL and Ronald Kennedy, Bay County, FL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ronald Dean of FL and Angie and Daniel Ross of Seymore, Indiana; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Jean Burdick and Johnny and Debra Lynn Burdick, all of Quincy, FL. two sisters, Vivian Turner of Newton, Connie Vinson of Buffalo, SC. Mrs. Sara is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
