Sara Frances Merritt, a resident of Cuthbert, GA, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at a local hospital. She was 88 years old.
A private family graveside service will be held at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Shellman, Georgia.
Mrs. Merritt was born on July 21, 1932 in Randolph County and lived there most of her life. She loved growing flowers in her garden, day lilies were among her favorites. Mrs. Merritt enjoyed taking care of her family, she especially loved cooking for them, and her pound cake was the best you’ve ever tasted. She was employed with Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert, Georgia for several years before her retirement.
Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by her husband, George Merritt, her daughter, Sandra Murray and by her grandchild, Brian Deal.
Survivors include her children, George “Russell” Merritt and Janice (Thomas) Giles; her 4 grandchildren, Eve (Andy) Hughes, Thomas Rusty Merritt, Lisa Diane Merritt, and Summer Murray; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Betty Jones and Birdie Harvey.
