SARA WALDEN SUTTON


HEADLAND.…Sara Walden Sutton, a resident of Headland, passed away late Friday night, May 29, 2020, at her home. She was 99.


            Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Monday June 1, 2020 at the Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Brother Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. before the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.


            Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in Mrs. Suttons honor to the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church,  3391 County Road 13  Headland, Alabama 36345.


            Mrs. Sutton was born and lived her entire life in Headland to the late Sam D. Walden and Lucy Hollon Walden. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church – Headland. She was a self proclaimed stem-winder. She loved her some Jerry Lee Lewis music. She loved to cook, especially for her grandkids, their favorite “macaroni and cheese”. You never came and visited without leaving being fed or given something to eat, to take with you. Her favorite saying was “Let the good times roll”.


            Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Hamilton Sutton.


            Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Betty Sue Sutton Robinson (Johnny) of Dothan, AL, Nedra Cathryn Sutton Walker (Allen) of Abbeville, AL, and Mary Helen Sutton Watson (Kyle) of Georgetown, GA; her son, James Robert Sutton of Bay Minette, AL; her grandchildren, John Bronson Robinson, Jason Edward Robinson (Kathy), Stacy Walker VanScyoc, Jeffrey Allen Walker, Ashley Watson (Terri), Miranda Sutton Borders, and Marissa Sutton; her great-grandchildren, Colin Robinson, Cale Robinson, Morgan Robinson, Kailie Robinson, Hannah Robinson, Hunter VanScyoc, Cole VanScyoc, Kyle Ashley Watson, Kerri Elizabeth Watson, Austin Tyler Watson, and Emily Dunn, also a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
