SGM Philip Wayne Wolfe, United States Army (Retired), a resident of Richmond Hill Georgia died Friday evening August 11, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 68 years old.

Funeral services will be 11:00 Tuesday from the chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Kenneth Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Baptist Church Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Philip was born November 22, 1954, in Monroe, NC, to the late Robert and Deane Wolfe. He enlisted in 1974 and served his country proudly in the US Army for 26 years, traveling to many places during his military career including Thailand, Germany, Korea, and he served in Desert Storm in the Middle East. He retired from Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA, as a Staff Sergeant Major in 2000. Even in retirement, his life was full of adventures. He enjoyed going to Tybee Pier and fishing and hanging out with his buddies. The fishing was great, and the fish tales they shared were even greater. He and Mavis, the love of his life and his favorite adventure companion, also enjoyed hiking in the beautiful Georgia State Parks and geocaching around the country. They made many friends in the geocaching community over the years. We will miss our patriarch and Papa. He was an amazing man who loved doing things that made his family happy, and he especially loved playing with the grandbabies. We mourn his loss, but we will all see him again someday.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mavis Wolfe, and four children (and their spouses) that he dearly loved: Lisa Adams McIntyre (Joe) of Greer, SC, Benjamin Wolfe (Glenda) of Austin, TX, Matthew Wolfe of Montgomery, AL, and Aaron Wolfe (Erica) of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his greatest treasures, his grandchildren: Genevieve Wolfe of Austin, TX, Dallas Wolfe of Savannah, GA, Aria Wolfe of Savannah, GA, Tayes Woodham of Greer, SC, Taylor McIntyre of Chattanooga, TN, and Jacob McIntyre of Greer, SC. He is also survived by his brothers Robert Wolfe (Sandy) of Mt. Airy, NC, and Jeff Wolfe (Eva Marie) of Baltimore, OH.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
