Sgt. Major Lister H. Reeves, 79, of Enterprise, AL died on Friday, September 7, 2012.

 

          Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Enterprise with Rev. Sonny Moore and Rev. Derek Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 until 7 pm at Searcy Funeral Home.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 302 N. Main Street, Enterprise, AL  36330.

         

          Sgt. Major Reeves was born on September 26, 1932 to Harold and Olene Reeves.

 

          Sgt. Major Reeves served in the U S Army for 32 years.  He also served in the Korean War, along with two tours in the Vietnam War.  During his military service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among many other medals.  Sgt. Major “Pops” Reeves was a member of the First Baptist Church for 35 years.  He will always be remembered for his love of Alabama Football “Roll Tide.”

 

          Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Era Castleberry Reeves, Enterprise, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ann and Ronnie “Sherriff” Fulgham, Northport, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lister H. Jr and Shawn Reeves, Enterprise, AL, Christopher Michael and Amy Reeves, Dothan, AL; three brothers, Rogerl Reeves and Jerry Reeves both of  Andalusia, AL, J.R. Reeves, Texas; two sisters, Elaine Lucas, McKenzie, AL and JoAnn Northcutt, Birmingham, AL; three grandchildren, Crystal Lynette Farley (Christopher), Northport, AL, Corey Michael Reeves and Christopher Gage Reeves both of Dothan,  AL; two great grandchildren, Dylan Lee Farley and Christopher Devyn Farley both of Northport, AL.
