SHIRLEY A. GOUGE

WEBB…. Shirley A. Gouge, a resident of Webb, Alabama, passed away late Friday night, March 12, 2021, at her home after an extended illness. She was 80.

            Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 15, 2021 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with Reverend Blake Williams, Reverend Hugh Kirkland, and Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Avis Kirkland, 1805 Webb to Kinsey Road, Webb, Alabama 36373.

            Mrs. Gouge was born in Houston County, Alabama to the late Cody Woodham and Bertha Lee Howell Woodham. Her career consisted of coding for Ansel Corporation and bookkeeping at Collins Signs. She loved her family and church, but most of all, her husband.

            Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Joe Edward Winfred Gouge; her brother, Buddy Woodham; and her sister, Vernell Patterson.

            Leaving to cherish her memories are her husband, Joe M. Gouge; her two grandchildren, Kristina Taylor (Daniel) of Cowarts, AL and Clay Gouge of Dothan, AL; her three great-grandchildren, Dustin Taylor; Kinsey Jo Taylor, both of Cowarts, AL; and Preston Gouge of Dothan, AL; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Doni Palermo.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Rex Kirkland, Ricky Cochran, Terry Deese, William Ward, Gordon Ward, and Rob Wallace.
