LAS VEGAS, NEVADA… Mrs. Shirley Johnson Monette, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada (formerly of Dothan), died Wednesday, July 22, 2021, at her home. She was 72.

            Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

            Mrs. Monette, daughter of the late Grady Johnson and Willie Mae Carpenter Johnson, was a native of Geneva County. She formerly lived in Massachusetts for several years before returning to the Wiregrass area. Mrs. Monette was retired from the Dothan City Schools as a school bus driver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Monette; sisters, Bobbie Metcalf, Betty Ann Raffield, and Faye Todd; brothers, Lamar Cawley, Charles Cawley, Billy Ray Johnson, and Wayne Johnson.

            Surviving relatives include her two sons, Michael Monette and Nicholas Monette; sisters, Gail Reeves (Leo), Enterprise, Sue Ellenburg, Enterprise; brothers, Larry Johnson (Lori), Enterprise,  Gerald Johnson (Angie), Ozark; sisters-in-law, Juanita Johnson, Chancellor and Patricia Johnson, Cottonwood;  several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
