Shirley Mae “Tootsie” Sloan Coker, a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her residence at the age of 85.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Memory Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Glenn and Rev. Donald Irwin officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. All masking and social distancing guidelines will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions may be made to Stovall United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 711 Cedar Drive, Radcliff, KY 40160 or to Fostering Hope, 17965 US Hwy. 431, Headland, Alabama, 36345.

Mrs. Coker was born April 19, 1935 in Vine Grove, Kentucky to Hubert and Ruby Pearl Irwin Sloan and lived the early years of her life there. She was a 1953 graduate of Vine Grove High School. She worked with Temporary Duty Assignment soldiers at Cairns Field at Ft. Rucker for 32 years prior to her retirement in 1990. She was a lifelong member of Stovall Methodist Church in Vine Grove, Kentucky and attended Grandview Baptist Church in Dothan.

Mrs. Coker is predeceased by her parents and a sister, Mary Etta Guman.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Royce B. Coker of Dothan; two children, Mark Coker (Lisa) of Mt. Olive, MS and Melanie Irwin (Donald) of Dothan; two brothers, Louie Sloan of Radcliff, KY and Randall Sloan (Debbie) of Elizabethtown, KY; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a number of other family and friends.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
