Shirley Wavene Mims Brackin of Geneva, AL passed away on Monday August 31, 2020. She was 83 years old.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2020 at Mims Hill Church with Rev. Danny Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Mims family Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wavene will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.


 


Wavene was born on November 3, 1936 in New Hope, Florida to the late E.C. and Nellie Clark Mims. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Wavene loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of the Mims Hill church. She taught Sunday school for many years. Wavene loved her family and had a gift of remembering all of the birthdays in her family.


 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcom Otis Brackin, son, Steven Michael Brackin, grandson, Joseph Shane Olivarez, daughter-in- law, Cassie Brackin, son in law Stephen Newman one brother and eleven sisters.


 


 


Survivors include her children; three daughters, Jean Lewis (James) of Geneva, Wanda Newman of Dothan, and Debra Brackin of Geneva; two sons, David M. Brackin (Wanda) of Samson and Bob Brackin (Shirley) of Geneva, one sister, Dorothy Jackson (Johnny) of Hartford, AL, her grandchildren, Shane, Trevor, Sarah, Robby, Christina, Brittany, Jamie and Devin, and  26 great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild brothers-in-law, Louie Farris and Jerry Collins and many nieces and nephews.
