SONNY LAFAYETTE HILL

 

GRIMES. . .Sonny Lafayette Hill , a resident of Grimes, died Wednesday afternoon, September 5, 2012 at his residence.  He was 49.

 

            Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 8, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mike Griggs officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Mortuary in Headland. 

 

            Mr. Hill was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to Midland City as a child.  He lived in Headland before moving to Grimes in 2004.  Mr. Hill was self-employed as a carpenter in residential construction.  He formerly served in the Ozark unit of the Alabama National Guard.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lafayette Hill and Joyce Parker Hill Coleman.

 

            Surviving relatives are his wife, Cindy Lane Hill, Grimes; five daughters, Aerial Leonard and husband Tyronne Jr., Abbeville; Amber Michelle Hill and husband James Albury Jr., Pinckard; Amanda Renee’ Hill, Dothan; Tabitha Nicole Cherry, Newton and Ginger Rena Mantz and husband Mike, Hartford, WI; a son, Jason Cherry and wife Jeanie, Arlington, GA; a sister, Mildred Woodham, Midland City, a brother, Kenneth Charles Hill and wife Donna Kaye, Napier Field. Eight grandchildren and nephews, Austin Hill and Anthony Woodham; best childhood friend, Greg Key and friends Bob Beasley and Brian Paddock.

      Serving as active pallbearers will be Greg Key, Bob Beasley, Brian Paddock, Charles Farmer, Mark Farmer and Andrew Larson.
