Stephen Allen Hughes age 53, a resident of Elba, Alabama passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 at his home after an extended illness. In keeping with his wishes, no formal services will be held.

Steve will be remembered for his gentle, loving personality, and willingness to give to those in need. He never had children of his own, and made it his mission to spoil his numerous great nieces whom he loved dearly.

He leaves behind Brother - Terry Mac (Melissa) Hughes, Elba, AL, Sister - Shan Marie Hughes, Elba, AL, Brother - Daniel Wheeler, Geneva, AL, Sister - Joyce (Jim) Abbott, Geneva, AL, Sister - Virginia (Ronnie) Price, Elba, AL, and Brother - Travis Wheeler of Geneva, Alabama, along with his numerous great nieces, and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julion Spivey Hughes and Hubert Eugene Hughes, along with a brother Louie D. "Pete" Wheeler.

The family would like to publicly express their appreciation to Macy Thomas and the staff of Encompass Home Health, Dr. David Arnold, and Dr. Dale Mitchum for their loving and compassionate care provided.
