STEVEN GEORGE WILSON

EDWIN, AL… Steven George Wilson a resident of Edwin, Alabama, passed away Monday night, July 4, 2022, at a Dothan hospital. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M.  Friday, July 8, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Mr. Rusty Champion officiating. A eulogy will be given by his brother, Chuck Wilson. Burial will follow in the Pilgrims Rest Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will also receive friends after the commital service, at the old family home place, at Wills Cross Roads. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wilson was born in Los Angeles, California to the late Woody Wilson and Maxine Cavanaugh Wilson. He lived most of his life in the Henry County, Alabama areas of Wills Cross Roads and the Edwin area. He was a member of the Chester Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and a past member of the Pilgrims Rest Freewill Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid Alabama Football fan. His passion was coaching kids in football and baseball.

Along with his parents, Mr. Wilson was also preceded in death by his brother, Mike Wilson and his father-in-law, Glenn Byrd.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Martha Sue Byrd Wilson; his daughter, India Wilson Moorehead (Heath); his sons, Blayne Wilson, Bobby Ethridge (Felicia), and Dusty Ethridge; his brothers, Eddie Wilson (Diane), Troy Wilson (Tammy), and Chuck Wilson (Angela); his mother-in-law, Louise Byrd; his grandchildren, Makaylah Ethridge, Levi Ellis, Holden Ellis, McKenzie Ethridge, Alexis Ethridge, and Jaxon Brannon; and his several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Joey Floyd, Tehee Flowers, Dale Smiley, Bobby Ethridge, Michael Wilson, Thad Crowley, Jackie Smith, and Glenn “Tarzan” House.
