ABBEVILLE. . .Steven Guy Murphy, a resident of Abbeville, died Friday morning, July 22, 2022, at his home. He was 62.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 24, 2022, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with a son, Jarrod Murphy, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

 Steven Murphy was a lifelong resident of the Pilgrim Rest community of Henry County. He was a graduate of the Abbeville Christian Academy. Steven was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Free Will Baptist Church. He was employed as a truck driver most of his adult lifetime. Steven was preceded in death by his father, Guy Murphy, Jr., and his grandparents, John Hill Berry and Martha Berry and Guy Murphy, Sr. and Verdell Murphy

 Surviving relatives include his companion, Mary Reil, four sons, Mark Murphy (Christy), Abbeville; Jarrod Murphy (Katie), Baker, FL; Heath Murphy (Anna), Taylor, AL; and Dale Murphy (Sarah Nelson), Lynn Haven, FL; his mother, Janie Sue Berry Murphy, Abbeville; a brother, John P. Murphy, Fountain, FL; six grandchildren, Justin Murphy, Brannon Murphy, Pacey Murphy, Keegan Murphy, Utah Murphy and McConnell Murphy; nieces, Hailee Murphy and Summer Ketchum, and a nephew, Christopher Ketchum.           

 Serving as active pallbearers will be Steven’s sons, and Ken McBrayer and Ryne Turner. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Alan Tillis and Marty Money.
