Sudie Broxson Newsom Kyser of Coffee Springs passed away suddenly on May 9, 2019 at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva. She was 88 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. David Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Kyser was born on August 6, 1930 in Geneva County, AL to the late Henry Lee and Mary Elizabeth Golden Broxson. Sudie enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, reading her Bible and daily devotional. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She kept an open house while raising her children and her house was always full of children. She was very funny and vivacious and had an enormous love for the Lord.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, Albert Newsom and Lamar Kyser; six siblings; and one grandson, David Lamar Hawthorne.

She is survived by five children, June Meredith (Ken) of Brantley, Henry Newsom (Penny) of Tuscaloosa, Wanda Tice (Billy) of Sellersville; Glen Newsom of Coffee Springs, and Vicki Whittle (Jack) of Coffee Springs; one sister, Christine Norris of Geneva; five grandchildren, Keena Grissom of Brantley, Brad Meredith (Misty) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jeff Tice (Gina) of Geneva, Christy Tice Cotton (Michael) of Samson, and John Hawthorne of Coffee Springs; four great-grandchildren.

 The family would like to thank all departments of Wiregrass Medical Center, especially the ER and ICU for their care and concern during Sudie’s short illness.
