SUSIE ELLA JOHNS GRANTHAM

Dothan... Susie Ella Johns Grantham, a resident of Westside Terrace Healthcare in Dothan and a former resident of Ashford, died late Saturday afternoon, February 2, 2019.She was 85.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday February 5, 2019, in the New Hope Baptist Church in the Bertha Community in Dale County with Reverend Judd Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to service time.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church or the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery fund, c/o, Nancy Gast, 6349 N. County Rd. 67, Skipperville, AL 36374.

            Mrs. Grantham was born March 6, 1933, in Ozark, AL, daughter of the late Joe Horne Johns and Lily Mae Davis Johns. She was a 1952 graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark. Mrs. Grantham formerly lived in Headland before moving to Ashford in 1966. She was retired from MidSouth Bank, formerly First National Bank in Ashford. She was a member of the Cowarts Baptist Church. Mrs. Grantham was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Joe Grantham, a grandson, John Michel Grantham and a brother, Billy Joe Johns.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Joe Grantham (Kathi) Covington, GA and Jerry Grantham (Becky) of Headland, AL; six sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Parker Johns, Dothan, AL, Betty Nabors, Montgomery, AL, Sue Quick, Madison, FL, Peggy Doren, Bertha Community, Patsy Walker (Estus), Ozark, AL, and Sarie Ready (Jerry), Bertha Community; three grandchildren, Michael Grantham, Kelli Owens (Chad), Jeff Grantham (Ginnie); and six great grandchildren, Jake Grantham, Katelyn Owens, Grant Owens and Griffin Owens, Savannah Grantham and Sadie Grantham.
