Sybil Taylor, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at a local hospital. She was 89.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama with Dr. Johnny Fain and Rev. Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 pm prior to the service.


Mrs. Taylor was born on March 17, 1930 in Damascus, GA and lived her early years there. She graduated from Damascus High School where she excelled in basketball. Sybil moved to Dothan and attended Riley Business College where she met her future husband, Andrew Taylor whom she married in 1948. She was an avid bridge player for several years and had most recently enjoyed playing Rummikub with her Sunday School class. They traveled together after Andy’s retirement visiting 49 states. She loved to cook, especially making the most delicious pound cakes. Sybil enjoyed fishing with her husband and was an Alabama “Roll Tide” fan. She was a member of Dothan First Baptist Church.


Sybil was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Andy Taylor.


Survivors include her daughters, Debra Taylor Burke (Richard) and Kathy Taylor McCallister (Patrick); her grandchildren, Courtney Burke Breedlove, Drew Burke (Leslie), Lindsay McCallister Campbell (Cary) and Patrick Taylor McCallister (Nicole); her great-grandchildren, Christopher Breedlove, Burke Breedlove, Amelie Burke, Memphis Burke, Patrick Campbell, Caroline Campbell, Grayson McCallister, Jace McCallister and Courtland McCallister; her sister, Shirley Neisent; her brother and sister-in-law, Oyette and Jewel Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
