Sylvia Elizabeth Green Lawler, 73, of Ashford, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022 at her residence.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Ashford City Cemetery with Reverend Todd Thorpe officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to service time.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, “Respite Care”, 1380 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL, 36301.

Mrs. Lawler was born January 6, 1949 in Dothan to H. D. and Evelyn Parrish Green. She lived in Slocomb the early years of her life and was a 1967 graduate of Slocomb High School. She was a court reporter for many years. Later she was employed with the public library at Ashford before serving as the school secretary/bookkeeper at Ashford High School. She began playing the piano at a young age and continued with her children singing as she played at home. Mrs. Lawler was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashford (now Watermark) where she played the piano for many years.  

She is predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Lawler of Ashford; two daughters, Leigh Ann Buckhalt of Enterprise and Elizabeth Caldwell (Josh) of Dothan; grandchildren, Payton Waters (Jake), Hayden Buckhalt and Marley Phillips; great-grandchildren, Maisyn Kate Waters and Bowden Reid Waters; two sisters, Dolores Jones (Gary) of Slocomb and Laura Sellers (Randy) of Clanton; a brother, Fletcher Green (Teresa) of Clanton; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Janet Barfield, Jared Sellers, Justin Sellers, Dustin Green, Samuel Green and John Paul Jones.
